Everyone needs a good quality of sleep as it is healthy for the body and mind. Most people would do not even remember the last time they had a good sleep or woke up feeling refreshed and energised for the day. Some people have to seek medical help to sleep at night but still end up unsatisfied. There are ways to sleep better at night without any medical consultation. In this article, you will find some of the ways that can help you fall asleep.

More Natural light

Getting more natural during the day makes your mind think that it is staying up all the time. The brain will know that night is the sleeping time. Your body clock gets accustomed to this routine, and you get good quality sleep at night.

Less blue light

Blue light emitted from screens of smartphones and laptops is the reason you are not sleeping at night. Stay away from all kinds of screens at least an hour before your sleep schedule to fall asleep quickly. To reduce blue light harming you, set your devices on an eye comfort mode throughout the day.

Late Coffee problems

Avoid taking coffee or caffeine drinks late at night or in the evening because it makes you unable to relax better at bedtime.

Do not sleep in the daytime

If you want to sleep properly at night, you may want to reconsider sleeping during the day. Yes, if you sleep in the daytime, your body automatically gets recharged and, then at night, you find it difficult to fall asleep.

Consistency

You have to make time and consistency to sleep and wake up at the same time every day to have a better sleep at night.

Do not drink

If you party at night, prefer not drinking too much alcohol at night because it harms your sleep. Alcohol may cause sleep apnea as sensory organs lose control over the body after consuming it.

Change Environment

Changing the environment in your bedroom might be what you need to do right now. Make it a sleep-friendly environment. Set comfortable bed and put warmer nightlamps in the room. Try to shift the television from your bedroom to the living room of the house.

Temperature

Temperature is crucial for a good night’s sleep. You can adjust the temperature of your room according to your body. Extreme temperature can harm your body without you realising it. You would end up feeling tired in the morning, even after good hours of sleep.

Take a relaxing shower

Taking a relaxing bath or shower takes the stress out of you. If you feel tired from an exhausting workday, try taking a warm shower and observe how you get effortless sound sleep.

Get comfortable

Getting comfortable is the first step to sleeping better. Get a good mattress or a pillow to get you going. Get into cosy clothes preferably, silk or satin in summers and fleece in winters.

Bonus Tip: Try not to read or watch scary stories before bedtime to avoid nightmares. Also, do not put anything tight on your head like hairbands and leave your hair loose to get a comfortable sleep. Drink water at least 30 minutes before sleeping so you freshen up before you sleep. All these things can disrupt your sleep and, if you wake up a lot at the night, you get up cranky in the morning.
